Preberite izjavo Solidarnostnega odbora za svobodno Palestino glede prihoda tovorne ladje Borkum (ta prevaža orožje) v Luko Koper.
Antimilitaristični poziv proti sprejemu ladje Borkum v Luki Koper
Raztovarjanje in prevoz orožja in drugih materialov, namenjenih pobijanju, moramo brezpogojno zavrniti!
Kateri logistični centri in druga javna infrastruktura nudijo svoje storitve orožarskim poslom?

Anti-militarist appeal against the reception of the Borkum ship at Luka Koper
On Wednesday, the cargo ship Borkum, carrying weapons, is expected to dock in Luka Koper. According to the Spanish organisations Campaign to End Arms Trade with Israel and RESCOP (Solidarity Network Against the Occupation of Palestine), the ship is destined for the port of Ashdod in Israel and its cargo is believed to include rocket engines, explosive charges and cannon fuel. On May 16th, the ship changed its original plan to dock in Cartagena, as the Spanish Government announced an inspection of the cargo on suspicion of carrying weapons destined for Israel. Spain refused a second ship with a final destination in Haifa on the same suspicion.
According to official information, the ship’s military cargo is destined for the Czech Republic, which, in the context of the ongoing genocide in Palestine and calls for a military embargo on arms supplies to Israel, does not exclude the possibility that the final destination of the weapons is in fact Israel. The Czech Republic is one of the European supporters of Israeli aggression against Palestine, as it recently confirmed by refusing to admit Palestine as a member of the United Nations General Assembly. As the supply of arms to Israel has become more difficult in recent times due to protests and other pressures, war profiteers have resorted to disguised means of trade, often involving the indirect supply of arms through third countries. The available information on the cargo on board the Borkum shows that IMI Systems, owned by Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest arms company, is involved in the transit.
Whatever the final destination of the military cargo, weapons make war and killing possible, whether in Palestine, Ukraine or just “peaceful” Czech Republic. Luka Koper, through its logistical support to the arms industry, is directly involved in the war that is currently being waged in Palestine in its most extreme form: genocide.
The unloading and transport of weapons and other materials intended for killing must be unconditionally rejected! We do not accept the bureaucratic response of the institutions, including Luka Koper, that as a port service provider it is “merely doing its job” and is “just one link in the logistics chain”. Or the Ministry of Infrastructure, which responded by stating that “the ship in question meets all the conditions for entry and cannot be banned by the Slovenian Maritime Administration”.
If the institutions do not refuse the ship’s docking at the Port of Koper, we will call on the public to blockade the port and take other protest actions. At this point, we also call on the workers at the Luka Koper, who are the ones who ultimately receive and unload the ship, to refuse to support the ship.
Today, we address the following demands and questions to those responsible and the wider public:
- We are joining the solidarity and anti-war movements that have already called for the refusal of logistical support for the Borkum at Luka Koper. We also call for a thorough inspection of the ship to establish unequivocally what cargo it’s carrying, where it is actually destined for, and to inform the public about it.
- We demand that the institutions (both Luka Koper and the responsible ministries) inform the public as soon as possible about all the logistical support provided by Slovenia for the transport of weapons; which logistics centres and other public infrastructure provide their services to the arms business?
- It is essential to open the widest possible public debate on these issues, because people’s lives and the future of humanity depend on the answers. We must not accept the normalisation of war, arming and unbothered arms trade. Its consequences are already counted in the tens of thousands of dead.
Stop the machinery of death!
No logistical support for war profiteering!
Never again means now!
